EMILY'S PLACE Black Ties & Grassroots 20th Anniversary Gala
Emily’s Place gala raises a record $2.9 million.
With help from key cast members of the popular television series Yellowstone, supporters raised a record $2.9 million to benefit the Plano nonprofit Emily’s Place at the organization’s 20th-anniversary gala April 23 at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine.
The funds – generated through ticket sales, sponsorships, donations, and live and silent auctions – will support programs and services such as trauma-informed counseling, case management, transportation, childcare, advocacy resources, and financial and workforce education for victims of domestic violence. Each year, the gala raises almost 70 percent of the annual budget for Emily’s Place.
More than 1,100 guest gathered to dine on steak and enjoy the entertainment, which included 15-year-old Frisco singer Amanda Riley and a set by the country rock band Modern West fronted by Academy Award-winning actor Kevin Costner. MC Jennifer Landon, Costner’s Yellowstone co-star, kept the evening moving, even jumpstarting the Camp Emily appeal with a generous lead gift. Emily’s Camp is a summer camp the nonprofit holds each year for child survivors of domestic violence.
Brynn Bruno, Emily’s Place executive director, said country music fans should expect an equally exciting headliner at next year’s gala. “We hope to announce that soon,” she said. Each year, the gala raises almost 70 percent of the annual budget for Emily’s Place, providing long-term care for women who have experienced domestic violence and their children.
CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE
The Christmas Open House is an opportunity to share in the holiday festivities with our women and children. It is a time for our volunteers to gather, bringing needed items for our residents and our home. The historic home is beautifully decorated with multiple trees and lights.
